8. Do You See Smoke or Smell Something Burning?
This should trigger a company-approved safety workflow.
A customer reporting:
- Visible smoke
- Electrical burning odors
- Melting plastic smells
- Sparking
- Fire
should not be guided through casual troubleshooting.
The HVAC company should decide in advance what language the call handler uses and when the caller is directed toward emergency services.

9. Do You Smell Gas or Suspect a Gas Leak?
